DDark is a rapper/producer from East-London, he has worked with the likes of Chipmunk and other great UK Rap stars. As a teenager DDark was already producing music and rapping; since then he has featured on Channel U and BBC Radio 1xtra. He has got what I like to call an aristocratic flow which is a mix of educated lyrics and knock-out rhythm. On the producing side of things, he has made tunes for artists such as Xploder and Highly Rated, and occasionally dabbles in dubstep, house and electro. Great lyrics, sick beats, watch this space because DDark is about to blow.

Young,Energetic and reckless , three adjectives to describe a group of guys who are united by two ever so important things, Skateboarding & Northampton. PoorKid Skateboarding is a skating group, think of a British Dogtown without all the publicity, besides skating they also shoot and edit videos of themselves. Considering their ages and lack of skating facilities they are doing amazing. Keep an eye out for them, awesome raw British skating.
It’s very rare to find a new local band who first of, look the part, but also wear matching attire. When you do stumble upon such a band you are faced with a barrage of unadulterated
filth. The Mobbs however look “Jolly Good” and having heard a few of their tracks they are definitely worth the mention. Look out for their iconic stickers on a lamp-post near you.
Where to see them next –
New Cassettes have been the background band for a bit too long, having been together for about six years and also supporting bands such as The Strokes and Friendly Fires, and to top it off, they were the first band to play at Latitude; it’s about time they receive the public attention they deserve.
With an EP coming out soon and various other projects running (such as a the launching of a new MTV service and a huge hush-hush project with The Inbetweeners US show), the Northampton band are definitely a “one to look out for”
Top 5 Must Listen :
P.S Listen too all the songs they are all AMAZINGLY AWESOME !!!! and also Tommy Francis is a LEEEEEGEND (as he likes to say).
Big things seem to be happening at XL Recordings , with Friendly Fires kicking off their tour in a couple of months (November to be precise), and Adele’s album receiving phenomenal success; it feels like they have a billion things going on at the same time. Southend band The Horrors have produced a new album, “Skying” making it their 3rd studio album since “Strange House” back in ’07.
“Still Life” was the first single released from the album and offers a comeback to their hit “Primary Colours”. On first listening, the beginning starts off like an overly commercialized Coldplay song, but then you are hit with a playful punch of piano synths and Faris Badwan‘s soothing, almost psychiatric voice. A superbly beautiful song, perfectly produced and definitely one to put on after a dodgy hang-over
Snoop Dogg teams up with Two and Half Men’s famous tiger-blooded star Charlie Sheen, in his new Retro/80’s track “Winning”. Since Snoop’s last auto-tune failure, the Long Beach born rapper has decided to jump on the Sheen bandwagon, in an attempt to gain media attention. The track features the voice of Charlie Sheen repeatedly saying “Winning”; the actor has been quoted to say the song is about “everything in life”. Whether the song is “Winning” or not is another matter.
The Joy Formidable are a Welsh alternative rock trio that formed in 2007. They have toured with the likes of Passion Pit and Editors and received great reviews from NME, The Guardian and The New York Times. The band creates abstract melodies that infuse with poetic lyrics ; making a crazily addictive substance.TJF have gone to the depths of the soul, covering emotions from eternal optimism to manic depression.
Having recently signed to Canvasback Records, in the summer of 2010 the band have gone on to produce their debut album, “The Big Roar” early in January 2011. From the album, singles such as “Whirring” and “Austere” are getting major radio play. “Whirring” in particular has received over 100,000 hits on YouTube.
With awesome music and a hot lead guitarist to match, TJF are really a band to watch, playing at some of this years biggest festivals including Reading & Leeds and Glastonbury. This band are set to rock the summer of ’11 !!.
